My research focuses on the political behavior and development in Mexico and among Mexicans living in the U.S., investigating the challenges individuals face in accessing social welfare and participating in democratic processes. I utilize a range of methodologies and data sources, including field and natural experiments, ethnography, surveys, and observational data. Additionally, I develop innovative sampling techniques for hard-to-reach populations. This summer, I am thrilled to lead the "Encuesta Latina," a comprehensive survey of the Latin American descent population—both U.S. and foreign-born—in the San Joaquin Valley. Sponsored by the Center for Analytical Political Engagement (CAPE) at UCM, this survey aims to provide the first representative sample of this community, offering insights into their political opinions, access to social benefits, community engagement, and overall welfare in one of the most Latino-populated areas in California.
