Assistant Professor of Political Science
Andrew Shaver is an assistant professor in political science and the founding director of the Political Violence Lab. His research focuses broadly on contemporary sub-state conflict. His most recent research explores dynamics of forcible displacement and, separately, news media reporting on international affairs. Prior to joining the UC Merced faculty, he completed postdoctoral fellowships at Stanford University and Dartmouth College. Andrew earned Ph.D., M.A., and M.P.A. degrees from Princeton University's School of Public and International Affairs and a B.S. from Westminster College.
