Dr. Ana Tur-Prats is Assistant Professor of Economics. She obtained a BA in Law and a BA in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Spain), and a PhD in Applied Economics from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. Prior to joining UC Merced she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Her research spans topics in culture and institutions, gender economics, economic history, political economy and health economics. Some of her recent work examines the cultural norms and systems that sustain violence against women. Other recent work focuses on the formation and persistence of social capital, and on the long-term effects of conflict on interpersonal trust. Her work has appeared in The Review of Economics and Statistics.
