Alex Kuzmin is a dedicated third-year student at UC Merced majoring in Anthropology. He was born in Russia and moved to the United States at a young age, where his fascination with other cultures, began to take shape. Focused on combining archaeology with fields like engineering, geography, and chemistry, Alex is eager to push the boundaries of research.
Recently, Alex has been utilizing LiDAR technology to create 3D scans of artifacts, a technique that preserves the integrity of physical objects while improving research accuracy. During the summer of 2024, Alex utilized the Yosemite Leadership Program Summer Internship (YLPSI) at UC Merced and interned with the Archeology department at Yosemite National Park. While working for the National Park Service he gained hands-on experience in various aspects of fieldwork, including test pit excavation, pedestrian surveys, construction monitoring, site assessment, and so much more...
Committed to academic excellence, Alex actively engages in research and seeks opportunities to collaborate with professors. He has clear ambitions to continue his studies at the graduate level.
