Alex Catchings  

“The Wikipedic Novel and the Dilettante’s Point of View” Alex Catchings is a Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow in the UC Irvine English department. His work addresses the confluence of literature, the Internet, and the smartphone’s ubiquity. He is currently completing a monograph titled Hashtag Reading: Race in Web 2.0 Literature. He holds a Ph.D. in English from UC Berkeley.

Mauricio E. Ramirez

"Rebels in Diaspora: Salvadoran Muralists in San Francisco’s Mission District, 1982-1992”

Mauricio E. Ramírez is a UC President’s Postdoctoral and Mellon Foundation Fellow in the Department of Chicana/o Studies at UC Davis, with a Ph.D. in Latin American and Latino Studies from UC Santa Cruz. A Salvadoran-American artist, curator, and academic, his research focuses on how the Central American diaspora is represented through visual art and activism. Dr. Ramírez is currently working on a book manuscript, Painting Solidarity: U.S. Central American Murals of San Francisco.

Frank Mondelli

“Authentic Audition: The Veneration and Vilification of a Fake Beethoven”

Frank Mondelli is a Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow in the Science and Technology Studies Department at UC Davis. He earned his PhD from the East Asian Languages and Cultures Department at Stanford University. His research and teaching interests focus on the material and cultural dimensions of the history of technology, media, and disability in Japan.
