Shadab Tabatabaeian is a fifth-year PhD student in Cognitive and Information Sciences at the University of California, Merced. Working with Dr. Carolyn Dicey Jennings and Dr. Tyler Marghetis, she studies cognitive and neural mechanisms of creative problem solving. She is particularly interested in using approaches such as information theory and complex systems theory to investigate how interactions between the brain, the body, and the environment give rise to creative solutions. As an international student, Shadab faced many challenges adapting to graduate school, which made her passionate about mentoring undergraduate and junior graduate students. She believes in sharing her experience with others to help them find their voices as young researchers.
