This book provides three important questions: first, it explores the richness and variety of social movements in Latin America; second, it illustrates the wide range of approaches and perspectives that exist among current scholars of Latin American protest; third, it shows that the continent has its own specificity in the study of social movements, in dialogue with the North American and European academies.

 

About the Author:

Paul Almeida is a Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Merced. His research centers on political sociology, historical comparative, globalization, and social movements.
