Jose Lopez is a fourth year student from Boyle Heights of Los Angeles, majoring in both Political Science and Sociology. He is the founder and president of the Political Science Honors Society, Pi Sigma Alpha. Jose was Professor Kroeger's research assistant in collecting data on governmental ministers from Africa and recently assisted Professor Shaver in the Political Violence Lab by researching media bias about political violence. He currently serves as the External Vice President for ASUCM and speaks to the UC Board of Regents and UC Office of the President about student issues on behalf of the campus community. Jose is the former President of the Merced Pre-Law Society, and, for nearly two years, interned with a local attorney. This internship is where Jose became even more passionate about becoming an attorney and helping those in need. After graduating from UC Merced, Jose plans on attending law school as the next step of his journey to pursue a career as an attorney practicing domestic violence law.
