Darah Carrillo-Vargas, ’23 English major
Darah is from Oaxaca, Mexico and is a first generation college student. She is currently a graphic designer for admissions with Media Cats, and a board member of the Young Artists Movement. Two of her reading recommendations are Anna Karenina (Leo Tolstoy) and The Soul of a Man Under Socialism (Oscar Wilde). The best piece of advice she’s gotten from the English program is: to be a good writer, you have to read a lot! After graduation, she plans to work in marketing or as a writer for a magazine, and perhaps pursue a graduate degree.
