Christopher Ojeda

Assistant Professor in Political Science

Christopher Ojeda studies how citizens think about and engage with politics. He is especially interested in poverty and mental health, both how they shape political engagement and are shaped by politics. Currently, he is finishing a book, The Sad Citizen, which explores why so many citizens feeling depressed by modern democratic politics. His research has been funded by the Russell Sage Foundation and published in the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, American Sociological Review, and other journals. He won the Seymour Sudman Award in 2012 from the American Association of Public Opinion Research and the Distinguished Junior Scholar Award in 2015 from the American Political Science Association. Most recently, he served as a fellow at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government from 2021 to 2022.
