On May 9, 2024, the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts celebrated its Outstanding Graduating Students at an awards reception with their families. These students had to meet the following criteria in order to be nominated for this award. 1. Significant research activities that include participation in research with an established faculty member's project, or a project coordinated by a member of the wider community 2. Leadership initiatives that include participation in campus and community student activities as a central figure in that activity 3. Service to UC Merced and the community that includes participation in activities that enrich the lives of people on campus and/or in the community (e.g. civic contributions, volunteer roles, etc.) 4. Students who graduated in Fall 2023 or will graduate in Spring or Summer 2024 5. Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher as of Fall 2023 6. Clear Judicial Affairs Record, as confirmed by the Office of Judicial Affairs Nominations were submitted by the school faculty for each of the school’s majors. The following students were this year’s recipients: • Eva Devanathan: Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science and a minor in Psychology • Steven Parnell: Bachelor of Science in Management and Business Economics • Grace Eriksen: Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology • Karen Tovar: Bachelor of Arts in Spanish • Hayden Namgostar: Bachelor of Arts in English • Estrella Bonilla: Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Management Analytics and Decision-Making • Maria Reza: Bachelor of Arts in Public Health and a minor in Psychology and Sociology • Angela Quiroz-Cruz: Bachelor of Arts in Psychology • Genesis Aguilar: Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Writing Studies • Geovanni Angelica: Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Psychology (double major) • Tiffany Arnold: Bachelor of Arts in History • Ide Isabeles: Bachelor of Arts in Critical Race and Ethnic Studies • Sean James-Hickey: Bachelor of Arts in Global Arts Studies Program with an emphasis in Visual Studies Emphasis
